PADRES 2015 STATS SO FAR

Last night I went to watch the Padres lose to the Phils. It got me thinking why the Padres are where they are. Here are some stats I found from Fangraphs.com. MLB ranks in ( )

  • OBP= .295 (Last)
  • SLG= .372 (27th)
  • BA=  .239  (29th)
  • Walks drawn=283 (22nd)
  • HRs= 97 (21st)
  • w/OBA=.292 (Last)
  • Runs Created+= 88 (25th)
  • ERA=3.97 (17th)
  • FIP=  3.95 (15th)
  • xFIP= 3.66(10th)
  • HR/FB= 13.3% (1st)
  • HRs alllowed= 121 (5th)
  • Walks allowed=330 (6th)
  • Ks= 911 (5th)
  • Fielding errors=61 (12th)
  • Def runs saved=-13 (22nd)
  • UZR= -27.1 (27th)
When you do not get on base, not draw walks, not hit for power on offense, you struggle scoring runs. When pitchers fall behind and give up HRs and walks the pitching suffers. It also does not help when your catchers struggle to frame pitches and infielders and out fielders do not have the range to get to balls. That has affect the pitchers big time. AJ Preller has his work cut for him.

SD COUNTY FAIR 7/4/15

On July 4th I went to the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, CA. Here are the pictures!!!! No I did not play any of the games there. They are rip offs. Of the hand made guitars the "Purple Haze" one was my favorite. And yes I ate a cinnamon roll!!!! :)

SD SABR SUMMER MEETING 7/25/15

  • Back in January I went to the annual "SABR DAY " at the  Sullivan Family Research Center@SD Central Library. I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to be a member. However I had to wait to sign up because my budget was tight then. When I got my tax return in late April, then I signed up to be a SABR member.
  • On July 25th the San Diego/Ted Williams chapter of SABR had their summer meeting at the SD Central Library. It is It was adventure trying to get there because the meeting was at 10:15 am. The library was not open until 12 noon. I snuck in threw the parking garage and waited for SABR staff to let me in and they did.
  • There were 3 guest panelists. The first was Wayne Towers who explained the history of closers and saves.  The second was Rebecca Herman. She wrote a book about leadership among baseball managers. The third was Marlins radio announcer Glenn Geffner. He worked for the Padres in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Geffner talked about the state of Marlins baseball and baseball in Miami in general.
  • Here are the pics!!!!! Enjoy!!!!
